The retail gods must be favoring the residents in upscale villages and other communities in the southern part of Metro Manila, especially those in the Alabang West area as the burgeoning membership shopping superstore, Landers, has opened its fourth branch in Las Piñas City.
Prior to the official opening of Landers Superstore’s doors to the public on March 14, an official said they have already received an “overwhelming” number of membership applications, no wonder given the huge number of families living and individuals working within the range.
“What’s really nice about this area is it’s surrounded by a lot of villages, like Ayala Alabang, Southvale, Portofino Heights, and others,” enthused Landers Superstore marketing director Pinky Angodung.
Angodung is optimistic that Landers will serve as the community supermarket in Alabang West, not only because of its prime and strategic location, “it’s along the way many residential areas,” she said, but also because the superstore offers premium products, mostly top-notch imported goods, that can’t be easily found at your regular supermarket.
Targeting the premium market, those who travel across the globe frequently, majority or 70 percent of Landers’ shelves are filled with imported brands. “What we wanted to achieve here is that those looking for items they see abroad, they might be able to find here,” says Angodung.
Landers Superstore offers Siviero Maria gelato, Badia spices, Huer candies, and Café de Lucca wafers, among other hard to find labels. It also has a huge selection of imported wines, beers, cheeses, and deli meats.
Aside from the aforementioned goods, the superstore also offers fresh produce, seafood, meats and poultry products, baked goods, pantry items, toiletries, home items (such as bed sheets, plastic organizers, pillows, and carpets), furniture pieces, outdoor essentials (barbecue grills and benches), indoor plants and succulents, tools, appliances, children’s toys, luggage and other travel essentials, and sports and fitness equipment—all in the vast, 8,000-square meter shopping space.
Products come in bulk packs, individual packs, huge sizes, and travel sizes.
According to Angodung, imported items in store are curated by their Buying Team that flies abroad and attends different fairs “to be able to bring good brands here in the country”—brands that would work in the Philippine market.
As a restaurateur and food enthusiast, Erwan Heussaff, who also happens to be one of Landers ambassadors, appreciates the wide variety of imported products available at the superstore.
“I feel like the selection here is probably the best we have. I hate feeling like you’re trying the same things over and over again, so it’s good to try other products that you don’t really try,” Heussaff told Manila Standard.
Meanwhile, 30 percent of Landers’ shelves are filled with popular and high-quality local brands. Landers made sure to make space for Carmen’s Best ice creams, local organic brands, export-quality goods, and products familiar to Filipinos.
In a bid to make Landers a “lifestyle destination,” it also houses dining outlets, like the Doppio café, Dough & Co. bakery, and Landers Central diner, as well as Federal Barbers barbershop. Shoppers tired from hours of pushing carts or those companions who would much rather wait outside can grab a cup of Italian coffee, fresh pastries, New York-style pizzas, hotdogs, and burgers, or indulge in a quick grooming and pampering session.
The Alabang West branch of Landers is also generous to provide huge parking space for members bringing their cars. In addition, it also has a Caltex gas station that offers fuel discounts of P2 off per liter for gasoline and P1.50 off per liter for diesel to all its members.
To become a member, just head straight to its membership booth or apply online at www.landers.ph. When you avail of its membership promo of 50 percent off until April 30, you will get the premium membership card for only P400, valid for one year.
Landers Superstore Alabang West is located at Daang Hari Road, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas City. Its other branches are located in Balintawak, Quezon City; in Paco, Manila; and in Cebu. A fifth branch is soon to open at Megaworld’s ArcoVia City along C5 in Pasig City.
