ADAMSON University vies for the UAAP Season 80 softball and baseball titles against University of Santo Tomas and De La Salle, respectively, as the championship rounds blast off today at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
The eight-peat seeking Lady Falcons and the Tigresses clash in the league’s biggest stage for the third straight year in the opener at 9 a.m.
After an eight-year absence, the Falcons are back in the Finals as they tangle with the Green Batters at 12 noon.
“Ang saya-saya ng Adamson community kasi after almost a decade, pumasok ang baseball namin and lalo mas masaya kasi dalawa kaming pumasok,” said Lady Falcons’ coach Ana Santiago.
Adamson University hopes to reassert its mastery of UST, which is eyeing to shed its bridesmaid image, as Santiago knows that the Lady Falcons will be headed for a tough battle with the Tigresses despite having beaten them twice in the last two championship series.
“The Finals is the best of the best,” said Santiago.
The best-of-three title round features two of the league’s best pitchers in Adamson University’s Lyca Basa and UST’s Ann Antolihao.
Tigresses’ mentor Sandy Barredo knows that his team can match up well in terms up pitching, but he acknowledges the fact that the Lady Falcons have a tremendous advantage with a slew of batters Santiago has.
In baseball, Adamson University hopes to fare well in its return trip to the Finals against La Salle, which is seeking to reclaim the championship it won two years ago.
The Falcons lost twice against the Green Batters in their elimination round head-to-head.
