The Philippine National Police – Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) is hiring 2,000 troopers this year.
This constitutes five new battalions for the police unit.
PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM) Head Chief Superintendent Rene Aspera says, they are now training 1,500 new recuits.
They are also processing the applications of 500 individuals.
Aspera says, the recruitment follows President Rodrigo Duterte's directive to augment the PNP-SAF.
The hiring of a huge batch of new policemen is set to be completed this year.
Aside from its police operations, SAF troopers are also currently in charge of guarding the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
