The House Committee on Justice is set to vote tomorrow (Thursday) on whether or not there exists a probable cause to impeach Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno.
Oriental Mindoro Representative and House Committee Chairperson Reynaldo Umali says, if the vote to impeach Sereno wins, the committee will prepare the Articles of Impeachment and the committee report.
These documents will be submitted to the plenary.
Umali says, the House will not wait for the developments on the quo warrarto petition filed by Solicitor General Jose Calida at the high tribunal.
He explains, the move taken by Calida will take a long time.
The SC yesterday ordered Sereno to reply to the pleading filed by Calida.
Calida had questioned the qualification of the chief magistrate.
He cited as reason her alleged failure to submit to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) all her Stataments of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) when she was applying for her current post.
