A suspected Abu Sayyaf sub-commander had been killed in Tawau in the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia.
The alleged terrorist leader has been identified as Nurhassan Jamiri.
Nurhassan was killed in a firefight with police at 3:20 pm last Tuesday.
The clash occured inside a plantation a kilometer away from a main road.
The firefight lasted for about four minutes.
Police are trying to identify Nurhassan's two other companions who also died in the encounter.
Nurhassan, who was based in Basilan, was reportedly involved in a bus explosion that killed 5 victims in Manila in 2011.
He was also said to be among the abductors of an Australian.
He was also said to have fought in the Marawi siege.
