THE sands of Puerto Galera witnessed a competitive weekend of beach volleyball last Feb. 24 and 25, the continuation of Beach Volleyball Republic’s “BVR On Tour” Season 3, with Perlas 1 and Ato Ni Bai coming away as the winners of the leg, streamed live on the ABS-CBN Sports Youtube.
BVR founders Charo Soriano and Bea Tan of Perlas 1 topped the Women’s Division, after outlasting UST 1 pair Babylove Barbon and Genesa Eslapor in the Finals with a score of 21-14, 26-24.
Over at the Men’s Division, Team Ato Ni Bai of Jade Bacaldo and Calvin Sarte ran away with the top spot as they won handily over team Kremie, which had Pemie Bagalay and KR Guzman dominating in straight sets, 21-13, 21-17.
Perlas 1 and Ato Ni Bai each took home the top prize of P30,000, with the second placers pocketing P10,000.
BVR founding member Bea Tan said the group’s mission to grow the love and appreciation for the game of beach volleyball in the Philippines continues as they eye new destinations for the tour.
“BVR has always been frequent in Northern parts of Luzon hitting Cagayan Province, Ilocos, Pangasinan and La Union. This year it is in our plans to expand to other coastal communities of the Philippines specifically Southern Luzon areas, Visayas, and Mindanao,” she said.
