Palace chides feminists over ‘vagina’ remark

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte was serious when he said the female members of the communist New People’s Army should be shot in the vagina to render them “useless,” Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said on Tuesday.

“You should be familiar with the President,” Roque said.

“I will tell this over and over again: Do not take the President literally but take him seriously.”

Duterte, in a speech in front of former NPA rebels in Malacañang, said women, especially those with children, should never join the New People’s Army because he would likely order soldiers to shoot them in the vagina to render them “useless.”

“The public should already know by now the Chief Executive’s way of talking. He’s serious,” Roque said.

He dismissed the allegations that Duterte was sexist and a misogynist.

“You know, sometimes, these feminists are really a bit OA [overacting],” Roque said.

“I mean, that’s funny. Come on, just laugh.”

Roque said if Duterte disrespected women, he would not have ordered a ban in deployment of Filipino women as domestic workers to Kuwait, where the corpse of a Filipina was recently found in a freezer.

“It is also strong message to the rebels that there is no longer a chance for the peace talks because the CPP-NPA just show betrayal, and we will return to war against the NPA and we will win,” Roque said.
