If you are still settling for the typical home dinner and movie night combo this Valentine’s Day, Kim Chiu has an interesting idea on how to add a little twist to that routine.
“Instead of watching a date movie, why not a horror film? It’s a nice idea if you want to be a bride of a ghost,” she said in jest during an intimate media conference held recently.
The Kapamilya star was referring to her movie The Ghost Bride which digs deeply into the mysterious Chinese tradition of ghost weddings. The film also stars Matteo Guidicelli, Christian Bables, Alice Dixson, and Ina Raymundo. The horror film is now streaming exclusively on iFlix and the third film from Star Cinema to be featured on the SVOD platform.
“It’s an interesting take on Valentine’s to invite your date over to your house and watch something like that,” she added
In the movie, Kim plays Mayen, a young woman trying to save her family home while taking care of her ailing father. In return for a huge sum of money, she speaks to a Chinese matchmaker (Dixson) and agrees to become a “ghost bride” to a wealthy but deceased Chinese man. But when the dead man’s ghost endangers Mayen’s family and loved ones, Mayen has to find a way to save her family, and ultimately, herself.
The actress was also excited to announce that the film is currently the top movie on iFlix toppling foreign contents from South Korea.
iFlix Philippines Head of Content, Marketing and Operations, Georgette Tengco said, “The release of The Ghost Bride on iFlix is a continuation of our commitment to provide our viewers with content that is fresh and in tune with what our subscribers want to watch. It is a good way to start our 2018, as we head towards increased hyper-localization of the content we offer on iFlix.”
The Ghost Bride joins a lineup of film and TV shows that can satisfy your inner Kim Chiu fan.
