Five-star hotel Makati Shangri-La, Manila receives the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certification for its compliance in reducing its environmental impacts.
Makati Shang is the first hotel in the Philippines to receive the certification, which was certified and confirmed by one of the leading certification bodies in the business, TUV Rheinland.
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, an EMS is a framework that helps an organization achieve its environmental goals through consistent review, evaluation, and improvement of its environmental performance.
“The EMS itself does not dictate a level of environmental performance that must be achieved; each organization’s EMS is tailored to its own individual objectives and targets,” the EPA says on its website.
The Makati luxury hotel says in a statement that it implements its EMS not only for compliance but more importantly, to ensure Shangri-La’s sustainable commitment to the global efforts in enhancing the environment and continually improve its environmental performance.
As part of the hospitality industry, it guarantees that all processes and services it delivers to its clients are comparable to the globally accepted processes and standards of excellence when it comes to quality, environment, and safety.
To maintain its high standards, Makati Shangri-La also complies and continuously maintains other internationally-recognized standards such as OHSAS 18001:2007 Safety Management Systems and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point.
The latest recognition serves as an affirmation of Makati Shangri-La’s steadfast day-to-day efforts to provide its guests quality, consistent, innovative, environment-friendly, safe, and excellent service.
