Forty (40) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have returned to the Philippines from Kuwait.

This comes amid the deployment ban imposed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The workers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) today via Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 669.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Arnel Ignacio welcomed the OFWs.

More than 300 more OFWs from Kuwait are expected to arrive in the coming days.

The Filipinos went home following various problems in their employments.

Some of them allegedly did not receive salaries while many were reportedly subjected to maltreatments and abuses by their employers.

DOLE had instructed the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to suspend the release of Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs) to Kuwait-bound workers.

This is in reaction to President Rodrigo Duterte's statement that 7 Filipinos in the Gulf state died due to maltreatment and abuses of their employers.

DOLE is investigating these alleged incidents.
