The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is hiring independent auditors to check the applications for transport network vehicle (TNVS) permits submitted by app-based Transport Network Companies (TNCs).
This was disclosed by LTFRB Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Aileen Lizada in a press briefing today.
The auditors will look into the applications filed up to July last year.
This was just before the LTFRB suspended the acceptance of more applications.
Uber has 67,000 applications while Grab has 52,000 applications.
The LTFRB is particularly trying to identify if the drivers of TNCs have 'dual citizenships.'
This means, the drivers may be accredited by both Uber and Grab.
The LTFRB also wants to know the status of the vehicles, whether or not the units are on loan and if foreigners actually own and operate them.
TNVS permits are legal papers given to accredited TNCs.
