Two members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were killed in a grenade blast in Abra.
The fatalities were identified as PO3 Carlos Bocaig and PO2 Frenzel Buneng Kitoyan.
The incident happened at about 1:30 am today at the plaza of La Paz where a fiesta celebration was ongoing.
Fireworks were on display when the explosion took place.
The cops killed had been assigned to provide security in the fireworks display area.
Ten other persons were hurt in the incident.
They included Abra Lone District Representative Joseph Bernos and his wife, La Paz Mayor Menchie Bernos.
They reportedly sustained minor injuries.
They were brought to a hospital and they had been sent home by doctors.
Police are investigating the blasts.
Witnesses said they saw two suspects hurling grenades at the revelers.
