Mayon volcano has spewed thick columns of ash again today.

It occured at about 10 am.

Wind is blowing the ash columns toward the direction of Guinobatan and adjacent municipalities in Albay.

Rumbling sounds were heard from the crater of the volcano.

At this time, thick clouds cover its summit.

The heavy ashfall is affecting residents.

But some say, they have become familiar with the situation since Mayon became restive.

Health officials have reported an increase in respiratory problems among residents due to inhalation of volcanic ash.

They are urging people to wear masks.

Mayon started to have steam-driven eruptions last January 13.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) Director Renato Solidum expects the volcano to go on frequent, moderate eruptions in the coming days.
