Fly from Hong Kong to Washington DC nonstop

Cathay Pacific Airways continues its long-haul expansion by connecting Asia to even more exciting locations across the globe, including a four-times-weekly service Washington DC beginning September 2018.

 “We listened closely to our customers’ need for greater options and increased flexibility,” said Cathay Pacific CEO Rupert Hogg. “Much like Hong Kong, Washington DC is a vibrant and dynamic destination and we’re thrilled to be the first to offer the only direct flights between these two great cities.”

The Airbus 350-1000 features Cathay’s award-winning in-flight products and cabin design, as well as enhanced entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity 

Operated by the all-new, environment-friendly Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, the nonstop flights to the US Capital offers all a passenger needs for a life well-traveled, including Cathay Pacific’s award-winning inflight products and cabin design, and enhanced entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The service to Dulles International Airport, which will become the longest on the Cathay Pacific network in terms of distance at over seven thousand nautical miles, complements its existing routes to US East Coast’s main international airports.

Travellers to the US Capital will surely be drawn to the city’s rich political and social history. Washington DC also boasts of a thriving arts and cultural scene, plethora of fine restaurants, and numerous sporting attractions that have attracted visitors from around the world for decades.

The new route has been well-received by local officials, with Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe praising the role it would play in helping to grow the local economy.

Cathay Pacific now flies directly from Hong Kong to Washington D.C.

 “We celebrate this newly forged bridge between Asia and Virginia,” said Governor McAuliffe. “With Virginia’s commitment to enriching our partnership with Asia and this Cathay Pacific air service, we look forward to welcoming the international travellers this new air service will bring to the Commonwealth.”

2018 is set to be one of Cathay Pacific’s most significant years in terms of network expansion and capacity growth, as the airline also launches year-round services to Brussels and Dublin in March and June respectively.  A seasonal service to Copenhagen commences in May, while Cathay Dragon, the regional carrier of the Cathay Pacific Group, started a four-times-weekly operation to Nanning in mainland China this month.  Frequencies on several of Cathay Pacific’s most popular existing routes, including Barcelona and Tel Aviv, are also being increased in 2018.
