A SMASHING display in the third allowed Alaska to massacre ailing Kia, 102-65, for its second straight win in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Star rookie Jeron Teng displayed his steady play once more, backstopping Alaska with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds.
He got ample support as Carl Bryan Cruz scored 16 points, Chris Banchero had 11 points, and big men Calvin Abueva, Vic Manuel and Jake Pascual each added 10 markers.
The Aces improved to 2-2 to move in the upper part of the standing while Kia fell to 0-4 as its nightmare continued.
The Aces had a dazzling showing in a decisive third, where they exploded for 36 points, while holding the Picanto to only five points for the period.
Alaska mercilessly stamped its class over helpless Kia to break the game wide open emphatically.
That winning surge was led by Teng as the super rookie scored 13 of his total output in the third.
It was actually a competitive in the first half with the Aces only taking a 39-34 edge at the half.
The second half, however, was as one-sided as it can get. Alaska’s lead peaked at 38 points twice.
After tasting an abysmal 47-point drubbing at the hands of Magnolia in its last defeat, the Picanto suffered the same fate once again.
Dating back to the Commissioner’s Cup of last season, Kia has now lost 16 games in a row.
