The Department of Health (DOH) is preparing to return the remaining 1.5 million Dengvaxia vaccines to drug manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur.
The vaccines were not used in government's immunization program.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque says, Sanofi Pasteur must pay for the unused Dengvaxia.
Meanwhile, the health department is willing to work with the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) as it investigates alleged cases of deaths among children who were given shots of Dengvaxia.
PAO Chief Persida Acosta earlier aired concern that if its probe will have a different result from the investigations of the DOH, the discrepancy may be used by Sanofi Pasteur to defend itself from liability.
PAO is conducting its own forensic examinations on the remains of suspected Dengvaxia victims while DOH has asked the help of the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) in its separate inquiry.
Dengvaxia vaccine became controversial after its manufacturer admitted it could cause severe reactions to persons who have not contracted dengue prior to immunization.
