THE leader of the Mandaluyong Police team that figured in the shooting that resulted in the killing of two people and the wounding of two others on Dec. 28 last year surfaced at the National Capital Region Police Office in Taguig City on Wednesday, an official said Thursday.
PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa identified the police official as Senior Inspector Maria Cristina Vasquez who had been absent without leave since Dec. 30.
He said Vasquez and nine other police officers would be placed under restrictive custody while the case was being investigated.
The nine other policemen were identified as PO1 Alfred Uribe, PO2 Nel Lemuel Songalia, PO1 Jave Arellano, PO1 Tito Danao, PO1 Mark Castillo, PO1 Julius Libuen, PO1 Bryan Nicolas, PO1 Albert Buwag and PO1 Kim Ruford Tibunsay.
Meanwhile, Mandaluyong Police Chief Moises Villaceran was ordered relieved as a result of the incident.
The shooting took place on Wack-Wack and Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong past 10 p.m.
That was when the police fired on a Mitsubishi Adventure that was transporting a woman wounded in an earlier shooting incident in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong, thinking it was the getaway vehicle of the suspects.
The lawmen got this impression based on the report of village watchmen who earlier responded to a shooting incident in the area.
The wounded victim, Jonalyn Ambaon, was killed along with her companion while two others were hurt, including the vehicle’s driver and Ambaon’s live-in-partner.
