The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed tax evasion charges against Customs fixer Mark Taguba and businessman Kenneth Dong.

This was announced by BIR Commissioner Cesar Dulay in a press conference.

The bureau accuses Taguba of failing to pay taxes worth P 11 million while Dong reportedly failed to pay taxes worth P 850 million.

The cases were filed at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Dong was previously identified by Taguba as the person who had brought in most of the 600 shipments that he handled and facilitated at the Bureau of Customs (BOC).

This was from March to May last year.

Among the transactions that Taguba allegedly handled was the shipment of 605 kilos of shabu worth P 6.4 billion last May 23.

During the Senate investigation last August, Taguba had claimed he did not know that the shipment contained illegal drugs.

The cargoes were delivered to a warehouse in Valenzuela City.

He admitted he had given BOC officials bribes worth about P 17 million in just 3 months.
