Joross Gamboa and Edgar Allan Guzman are both happy and proud headlining the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Deadma Walking produced by T-Rex Entertainment.
“It’s a big honor to be considered for the movie, which is the screen adaptation of the second prize winner at the 2016 Palanca Awards for Literature. It’s the perfect ‘beshie’ comedy about two gay best friends whose loyalty to each other in life and beyond is simply inspiring,” says Joross.
“The movie is Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board, which is another cause for celebration,” avers Edgar Allan. “We hope the viewers will support the project because it’s different from among the festival entries this year. It’s not just an ordinary comedy. The story is about friendship and selfless love. It’s very heart-warming!”
It’s not the first time that Edgar Allan played a gay character on screen. What makes this different?
“That’s right” he admits. “This is my fourth time to do another role of this kind. To be honest, I was a bit adamant in accepting the part when it was first offered to me. But when I read the whole script, I was moved. I instantly fell in love with the story and eventually said yes.”
For Joross, doing the film opposite Edgar Allan brings back good old memories.
“Unknown to some, EA and I are already good friends from way back. He was my back-up dancer during my Star Circle Quest days. This has a very positive effect on our portrayal of gay best friends in the movie. Since we’ve known each other for so long, we had no reservations whatsoever in all our scenes together,” he reveals.
One of the aces of Deadma Walking is the cameo roles of many of the industry’s brightest luminaries.
“Yes! The majority of this can be seen in the eulogy part of the movie since in the story, Joross as John is a dying businessman who is terminally ill and he requests my character Mark to mount a fake wake to personally hear what people would say about him. We’re grateful to all those who lent their presence to the movie like Piolo (Pascual), Iza (Calzado), Gerald (Anderson) and Eugene (Domingo). We could never thank them enough,” Edgar Allan points out.
Despite its comedic nature, the movie wants to send an essential message to everyone.
“That we should say all the good and loving words to people who really matter to us every day while they are still in our midst. It’s too late to verbalize how they mean to us if they’re already gone,” ends Edgar Allan.

According to Lotlot de Leon, she is okay with Rayver Cruz as her daughter Janine’s suitor,.
“Honestly, I only have good words for him,” she states. “I’ve known him for a long time already. I had worked with him in the fantasy series, Spirits, in 2004. Remember? I know him very well. He’s good-natured.”
The award-winning actress doesn’t doubt Rayver’s pure intentions for her daughter.
“Because of our familiarity, I can feel his sincerity towards Janine. He doesn’t need to exert effort to make me believe. I can feel it.”
It all depends on Janine now.
“That’s right! At the end of the day, she’s the one who will decide. It also depends on Rayver’s moves. Ha-ha-ha! If Janine decides to enter a relationship with him, I will support them. I really hope Janine answers him with her sweet ‘yes’,” says Lotlot.
