The Premiere Volleyball League capped an exciting season with three different champions emerging from what was formerly known as the Shakey’s V-League.
The Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors topped the season-opening Reinforced Conference. The Bali Pure Water Defenders ruled the Open Conference before the National University Lady Bulldogs dominated the Collegiate Conference.
Pocari Sweat upset top seed Bali Pure Water Defenders to post a hard-earned four set decision to claim the 2017 PVL Reinforced Conference women’s division title on June 15 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Warriors had a shaky start during the championship match as they committed nine unforced errors to allow the Water Defenders to post a first set victory.

But Pocari Sweat came roaring back to capture the next three sets and win the Reinforced Conference crown.
In the next conference the BaliPure Water Defenders finally earned their breakthrough championship in the PVL when they beat the Lady Warriors to rule the PVL Open Conference finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
It was BaliPure’s first title since joining the league last season and gave the Water Defenders a measure of revenge against the Lady Warriors, who defeated them in the finals of the Reinforced Conference two months earlier.
With the impressive victory, BaliPure not only swept Pocari in the finals, but it also handed the Lady Warriors their first loss in a finals since the Philips Gold franchise joined the league last year.
In the third conference National University completed a tournament sweep by crushing the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws to win the crown in the league’s collegiate conference.
Conference Most Valuable Player Jaja Santiago was unstoppable as she led the Lady Bulldogs to the throne, NU’s third Collegiate Conference title after winning the defunct V-League’s last two editions in 2015 and 2016.
With new teams and exciting new players joining next year, the Sports Vision-organized league looks forward to an exciting 2018 season.
