QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Quezon City Police District director Guillermo Eleazar and Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Catalino Cuy have partnered to have a standardized and more confidential way of getting citizens’ suggestions and complaints.
A memorandum of agreement was entered into among the three agencies on the distribution of the Mamamayang Ayaw sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw sa Iligal na Droga (Masa Masid) suggestions and complaints drop boxes to the city’s 142 barangays.
Bautista led the distribution of the Masa Masid drop boxes to the barangay chairpersons.
The acquisition of the drop boxes is funded by the city government through the Quezon City Anti-Drug Abuse Advisory Council to address the need to have standardized drop boxes and to cater to the suggestions for better city governance and management of the local government as well as to receive any information on illegal drug peddling and corruption.
The drop boxes will be placed in strategic locations outside the barangay halls and shall be collected and opened every first and third Friday of the month by the persons-in-charge, including the barangay councilors, Philippine National Police’s focal person and one faith-based organization member of the Masa Masid team.
Suggestions and complaints will be sealed in a brown envelope with the signature of the persons-in-charge.
In another development, there will be no Christmas break for garbage collection services.
Garbage collection services in Quezon City will remain normal during the Christmas week leading to New Year’s day.
Frederika Rentoy, head of the Environmental Protection and Waste Management Department, said street sweepers and haulers will be deployed as scheduled from Dec. 25 to Jan. 2.
“The measure is meant to maintain the cleanliness in all areas and to promptly collect all refuse that may be generated during the Yuletide season,” she said.
