Urduja displaces over 44,000 families

The number of fatalities due to tropical storm Urduja stands at 26.

18 of the deaths were recorded in Biliran.

46 persons are missing.

These figures were given by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Spokesperson Romina Marasigan in a press briefing at noon today.

The causes for the deaths are mostly related to landslides and floodings in Bicol, Visayas, MIMAROPA and CARAGA.

44,369 families have sought refuge in over 200 evacuation centers across the regions.

48 houses were totally damaged while 101 houses were partially damaged.

The NDRRMC has delivered P 614,147 worth of food supplies and non-food items to calamity victims.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is conducting clearing operations.

The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 7 injured persons during the height of the storm.

The victims are residents of Tacloban, Leyte and Samar.
