ANOTHER typhoon is brewing this Christmas as tropical depression “Urduja” continued to batter several parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 5 p.m. yesterday, “Urduja” had slightly changed its course and was heading toward Aklan.
The center of the tropical depression was estimated at 65 kilometers south of Romblon, Romblon.
Packing maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kms per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, “Urduja” was forecast to move west southwest at 15 kph.
Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 remained in effect over the southern part of Mindoro, Romblon Palawan, Aklan, Antique and Capiz.
The new storm, once it enters the Philippine area of responsibility, would be named “Vinta.”
It was spotted at 1,950 kms east of Mindanao.
