Orphans and children of policemen who were killed and wounded in anti-drug operations were among the beneficiaries of this year’s Christmas Gift Giving Program for Kids of the National Capital Region Police Office.

NCRPO director Oscar Albayalde led the distribution of gifts held at the St. Joseph Chapel, Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan Taguig City. He said the gift giving activity will be followed by a tour at the oceanarium in Manila.

“This program aims to give joy and happiness to the beneficiaries and make them feel the essence of the yuletide season,” said Albayalde.

As of September, more than 20 police officers in Metro Manila have been killed and 47 others were wounded since the government crackdown on drug dealing and its use began in July 2016.

Since the crackdown started, more than 83,000 individuals, including 119 elected officials, 23 uniformed personnel, and 138 government employees, were arrested nationwide.
