At the 12th anniversary of German Moreno’s Walk of Fame at Eastwood in Libis, Quezon City, the late Mastershowman’s son, Federico Moreno, thanked Alice Eduardo, CEO of Sta. Elena Construction, and honored her for being the first person to support his father’s project.
“Walk of Fame is the realization of my dad’s dream. It didn’t push through, almost, without the help of Tita Alice,” he said, adding, “Alice Eduardo has been quietly helping (my father) for over a decade. My dad wanted to recognize her, pero siya (Alice) ang may ayaw.”
Federico admitted that there were times his father almost gave up on his dream for a Walk of Fame. For him it was a great struggle because he was doing it alone. He nearly turned his back on it and just walk away.
But with Alice’s help and encouragement, Kuya Germs was able to put it up.
Now, it has been a dozen years and the stars of Philippine showbiz are grateful the Master Showman put up something like this.
At the anniversary, 19 Philippine showbiz talents got their Walk of Fame stars. They were the late Isabel Granada, director Emmanuel Borlaza, radio and TV commentator Joe Taruc, director Eddie Romero, producer Lily Y. Monteverde, TV host Karen Davila, comedian Empoy Marquez, singer Jake Zyrus (Charice), public affairs host Atom Araulo, radio/TV commentator Anthony Taberna, rock group Parokya ni Edgar, matinee idol Matteo Guidicelli, and singer/actress Solenn Heussaff.
Federico remembered that Alice Eduardo was the last person his dad talked with over the phone. “She was in the US then and my dad wanted to call her. So, when the plane landed in Manila, they were finally able to talk. That was my dad’s last phone call. You see, Alice and my dad were really inseparable.”
