The prosecution in the illegal drug charges that Senator De Lima is facing has asked the court to allow the change in the information filed against the lawmaker.
The prosecution submitted the motion today at the sala of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 206 Judge Patria Manalastas-De Leon.
Lawyers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) want to change the cases from illegal drug trading to conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading.
They allege that prisoners in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) were made to sell illegal drugs.
De Lima's camp says, the prosecution's move brings confusion to the case.
They add, it only proves the evidence against De Lima are weak.
The court gave De Lima's counsel 15 days to comment on the motion.
