President Rodrigo Duterte has declared the Communist Party of the Philippines – New People's Army (CPP/NPA) a terrorist organization.
He signed the executive order for this purpose.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the announcement.
Roque said the basis used was the Human Security Act.
The Department of Justice will now file a petition in court to seek judicial affirmation of the presidential proclamation.
This move is required in the Human Security Act that defines terrorism.
