The House Justice Committee hearing the impeachment complaint against Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno went on an executive session before noon today.
The members are making a decision on how to reply to the letter sent by SC Associate Justices and SC court personnel who said that although they are willing to attend the proceeding, they will need to seek the permission of the SC en banc.
The en banc session takes place on Tuesday.
The committee invited 15 resource persons for today's hearing.
So far, only one guest showed up.
The resource person present is Manila Times Reporter Jomar Canlas.
Committee Chairman and Oriental Mindoro Representative Reynaldo Umali has begun to refer his panel as an impeachment committee.
The body has 60 session days to determine if there is probable cause to impeach the chief magistrate.
