Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada has enrolled 3,500 more indigent city residents to Philippine Health Insurance Corp. or PhilHealth coverage to enable them to access quality and subsidized healthcare.

The fourth batch of beneficiaries came from Districts 4, 5, and 6, bringing the number of PhilHealth-enrolled marginalized Manileños to 17,594 for this year alone, Estrada said.

“As PhilHealth members, you are now entitled to benefits enjoyed by regular members,” the Manila mayor told the beneficiaries during the distribution of PhilHealth ID cards at San Andres Sports Complex.

With the rising costs of hospitalization and medicines, Estrada emphasized that being a member of PhilHealth would mean a lot to poor residents needing hospitalization and prolonged, expensive procedures and medications.
