People are talking about Justice League

Bench Under the Stars

The daring biennial underwear show staged by country’s leading mass produced fashion brand united all the fandoms last weekend. In fact, many were tweeting about the steamy fashion show it trended for a few days generating an avalanche of memes for everyone to feast on. From big stars who were apparently fully clothed to the barely there fashion and showbiz personalities who left almost nothing to the audiences’ imagination, it sure did have everything for everyone. Bench knows how to tease people and we just can’t wait for the next “high-class” flesh fest to happen again.

Sarah Geronimo

The German-based Daf BAMA Music Awards has named the singer-actress best Filipino Act. Meanwhile, Golden Panther Awards, an international awards ceremony that honors best-selling recording artists, included her in their list of nominees this year for the Best Artist Awards. These two may mean nothing, as they are virtually unknown music award giving bodies. But the fact they only included Sarah G in their respective lists of best artists means that the singer-actress is the most recognizable and popular recording star in the country.

Justice League

Warner Bros. Pictures’ epic action adventure proved its might at the Philippine box office, earning almost P300 million across 772 screens to become the no. 1 release in the country, and setting new records. With its four-day gross, it toppled Thor: Ragnarok that conquered the Philippine box-office last month with P200 million ticket sales. So who says Filipinos like movies that don’t challenge their intelligence and taste in terms of visual effects and storytelling?

CineLokal

An internationally acclaimed director once said that the indie film industry is not and will never be the “new mainstream” as indies cannot not compete with commercial movies because they have an entirely different audience and target market. So, why did CineLokal get bumped off? Was it because the organizers were afraid that they might lose their audience because of Justice League? Talk about lack of confidence in someone’s own work.

Alyas Robin Hood

So, it’s already bye-bye for primetime series that features the network’s primetime king. Why are they cancelling the program? We thought it’s one of their top-rating and income- generating TV series? We bet the network has already gone past the in-denial stage and now realized that the material they renew for a second season is no longer moving at an entertaining pace.

Derek Ramsay

ABS-CBN is welcoming the actor back. In a statement released by the network, it said that Derek and the management have already “resolved the issues arising from his transfer to another network five years ago.” Perhaps, the actor has already realized that he just wasted five years in his showbiz career going nowhere. But it’s a good decision though, at least he now knows that no other network can give him the exposure that needs.
