QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista has inaugurated the 2.3-kilometer redevelopment of Tomas Morato Avenue.

Bautista led the opening of the west and east sides of the improved Tomas Morato Avenue sidewalk from Eugenio Lopez Sr. Avenue to E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue.

To deter the occurrence of crimes at dark in the area, the redevelopment project features better illumination through the installation of brighter park and street lights.

The city government also paved the pedestrian walk with stamped concrete to give the public more walkable space with a regulated parking zone.

According to Bautista, Quezon City, in its advocacy as a green city, has included bicycle lanes and added trees to improve the sidewalk.

Bautista, along with Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and District 4 councilors, also inaugurate other infrastructure projects, such as the road and drainage improvement on Timog Avenue in Barangay Laging, and west side streets of Scout Limbaga, Scout Fuentabella, Scout Deguia and Scout Delgado.

Meanwhile, the city council has passed a resolution giving Bautista the green light to extend financial aid to the Quezon City Punong Barangay Foundation Inc.

District 2 Godofredo Liban II authored City Resolution 7226, authorizing the donation of P500,000 to the city’s 142 barangays.
