Immigration authorities arrested an American pedophile at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport who was supposed to meet his victims in Manila.
The suspect, identified as Robin Hoyt Alderman, was arrested by members of the bureau’s border control and intelligence unit led by Intelligence Officers Erwin Ortanez and Bienvenido Castillo at the NAaia 2 terminal.
Alderman had just arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines flight from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam when he was intercepted by BI agents at the immigration arrival area of the Naia 2 terminal.
Morente said the US Embassy earlier tipped the BI about Alderman’s trip to Manila and his intention to meet with his minor victims whom he had contacted via the Internet while he was abroad.
“‹“His conversations with the would-be victims allegedly suggested that Alderman was going to meet them when he comes here and have sexual intercourse with them,” the BI chief added.
BI port operations chief Marc Red Mariñas said the BI operatives were joined in the operation by elements from the Women and Children Protection Center of the Philippine National Police.
Mariñas said the PNP-WCPC operatives immediately took Alderman into custody and brought him to Camp Crame where he is undergoing investigation.
The WCPC is the PNP’s lead unit (WCPC) which handles cases on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and Trafficking in Persons (TIP).
BI acting spokesman Grifton Medina said that aside from being criminally charged in court, Alderman will be subjected to deportation proceedings for being an undesirable alien.
However, Medina clarified that the American will only be deported if the charges against him are dropped or if he has already served his sentence, if convicted.
