There will be no road diggings in Metro Manila beginning Nov. 1 until Jan. 15, 2018 to provide relief to commuters and motorists during the holiday season when traffic is expected to be heavy.
This developed shortly following a meeting of the Metro Manila Development Authority with Public Works department officials, representatives of telecommunication companies and water utility firms in connection with the implementation of the moratorium to be imposed by the MMDA.
Only flagship projects being undertaken by the national government are exempted from the moratorium on road excavations, including bridge repair/construction, emergency leak repairs of water concessionaires, and construction of flood interceptors.
“Covered by the moratorium are city roads constructions,” said MMDA assistant general manager for planning Jose Arturo Garcia Jr.
