The Department of Health has lauded the city government of Caloocan for its “relentless support and exemplary implementation” of various health programs in the northern city.
In the citation, DoH acknowledged Caloocan for its “continuing partnership, invaluable commitment and support in strengthening the health systems within the National Capital Region.”
Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan welcomed the recognition and reiterated his support to DoH’s programs, and vowed to come up with more projects and activities that will promote the health and well-being of his constituents.
“We thank the Department of Health for recognizing our efforts and for fully supporting the Local Government of Caloocan in its endeavor to improve the health services for the residents of the city,” Malapitan said.
“The city government will continue to be a partner of DoH in finding ways to create positive changes in the health system of the country, particularly in Caloocan and the rest of the National Capital Region,” he added.
DoH also bestowed the “Purple Ribbon Award” to Caloocan for successfully enforcing its reproductive health and family planning programs.
The city government has been upgrading its health facilities on top of the free health services and medicines it provides for its residents.
Meanwhile, Malapitan issued a memorandum to city government employees on its dengue vaccination program.
According to the order, relatives of employees aged nine to 18 may be vaccinated for dengue on a date and venue to be announced.
Around 100 residents were recently given the vaccine at Caloocan City North Medical Center on Susano Road, Barangay 177, Camarin.
Beneficiaries of the vaccine should be in good health condition and have not received any other vaccination in the past month, and has not taken laxatives for the past three days.
The free vaccine program will take place until Nov. 15 in CCNMC from Monday to Friday at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and at Caloocan City Medical Center Annex on A. Mabini Street from Tuesday to Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The program forms part of the health services of the administration to its employees. City department heads are requested to submit the names of their staff’s relatives to the Human Resource Management Office until today, Oct. 24.
