“Paolo” now a severe tropical storm

"Paolo" has developed into a severe tropical storm as it moves over the Philippine Sea.

This is the latest from weather bureau PAGASA as of noon time.

The weather disturbance has been located 765 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It is packing winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

The storm is moving north northwest at 7 kph.

"Paolo" is not expected to make landfall within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It is not directly affecting the country's weather although it may bring occasional rains in Bicol and other parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, PAGASA sees a Low Pressure Area (LPA) near Coron, Palawan.

It is embedded along an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Fair weather is expected to prevail in Metro Manila in the next 3 days.
