GETTING back on their feet will be the defending champion La Salle Green Archers’ main concern at the start of the second round of the 80th University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.

The Archers, who are expected to work on their game, team chemistry and most of all their defense, face the Far Eastern University Tamaraws at 4 p.m. today at the Araneta Coliseum.

“After the first round, there’s time to work on our game, team chemistry and defense,” said 6’8” La Salle center Ben Mbala after the Green Archers bowed to the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 75-74, Sunday.

Mbala, who is the top MVP candidate this season, felt they played poorly even though they had better numbers than the Blue Eagles during their game.

The Green Archers, who average a good 46.3 percent shooting, were actually playing well with their 50 percent norm during the game against the Eagles, who however, still won despite their 39.44 percent shooting clip, way below their average of 44.2.

Earlier, the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons meet University of the East at 2 p.m.

The Fighting Maroons have a 3-4 slate in a tie with the National University Bulldogs, while the Warriors are looking for their second triumph in eight outings.
