The decision was announced by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The suspension of classes is meant to give local authorities the opportunity to prepare for the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) Summit.

On October 29, a dry run will be held along some major highways from Valenzuela City to Pasay City.

This is to ensure security for convoys of heads of state and delegates who will travel from Clark in Pampanga to Manila.
