She was a popular society figure who used to grace magazine covers (Lifestyle Asia, Vanity and others) and was dubbed “Asia’s Original Ballroom Dancing Queen.” In the coffee table book entitled Magandang Pilipina she was referred to as a “Woman of Beauty and Wellness” by the author, the late New Yorker Reynaldo Gamboa Alejandro.
Suddenly, Aida M. Posadas disappeared from the limelight.
The businesswoman-socialite, who owns 19 East Resto/Music Lounge in Sucat, Parañaque (where famous bands like Side A, Freestyle and MYMP perform regularly) revealed, “I focused on God. And I’m more focused on Him right now. I realized that if you fixed your sights on Him, peace and bliss would dwell in you. Simple bliss from God makes me happy, blessed, and peaceful. I can say I am fulfilled spiritually.”

It helps a lot that she does gardening, yoga, and meditation diligently.
In her new spiritual life, Posadas was guided along the way by the teachings of the world’s spiritual leaders, among them Amma (at 64, she is dubbed the “Hugging Saint of India” because of her habit of naturally embracing people she meets). Posadas has met Amma who hugged her tightly while saying mahal kita anak.
Amma, who celebrated her birthday on Sept. 27, has several books about her and Posadas, who describes herself as an ardent Amma devotee, has bought about 20 of them in Singapore worth P50,000.
Also into real estate, Posadas who is still a practicing Roman Catholic has her son lawyer-musician Wowee as manager of 19th East Resto Bar Restaurant. Having suffered so much in life (she lost her pilot-husband when she was 35, and nine years later, her only daughter Cherrylen died of leukemia), her life story is truly movie material. But it was something that could have made her lose hope and faith in God.
But, she said “Whatever God gives, I accept.” So what does she want to do? “I want to serve – to do whatever God likes me to do. I want to help people but directly, not through groups. Whoever comes to me for help, I will help him. I’ve come to realize the meaning of my name Aida – God made me to aid others. Acquiring wealth is not the ultimate goal for me. We all die and leave everything behind.”
