Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapena has relieved 38 officials at the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
Those affected include eight district collectors and 30 section chiefs.
Relieved district collectors were Elvira Cruz from the port of Cebu; Romeo Rosales from the port of San Fernando; Julius Premediles from the Port of Limay; Jose Naig from the port of Iloilo; Carmelita Talusan from the port of Subic; Divina Garrido from the port of Legazpi, Halleck Valdez from the port of Zamboanga and Tomas Alcid from the port of Appari.
The relieved section chiefs were assigned in the port of Manila and at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Lapena implemented the reshuffle after observing that undervaluation of shipments continues to happen, which supposedly sustains corruption.
He also said some of the officers failed to meet their collection targets.
At the same time, Lapena promoted about 560 customs employees.
He led the oath-taking of the promoted government workers.
Lapena assumed the post of BOC head last August 30.
