Seventeen (17) hostages of the Maute group have been rescued by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Marawi City.

About 20 more persons are being held captive by the terrorists.

Last Monday, government forces recovered computers and communications equipment used by Maute members during the siege.

Joint Task Force Ranao Deputy Commander Colonel Romeo Brawner said the pieces of equipment were abandoned by the terrorists when they fled the main battle area.

He said the computers and gadgets will be returned to the original owners.
