More than 100 kilos of botcha seized in Tarlac City

TARLAC CITY—At least 111.5 kilos of hot meat (botcha) were confiscated in an inspection conducted Saturday at the Victory Uptown Market by the City Veterinary Office and Tarlac City Police Station.

The City Veterinary Office, headed by Dr. Julieta Parairo, along with PO2 Ryan Torales, confiscated the hot meat at the John-Len Store.

Parairo said she will recommend the revocation of the business permit of the stall owner.

The stall owner will also be charged for violating Republic Act No. 10536 or the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines.

The seized hot meat will be burned and disposed of properly, she said.

Parairo said the routine operation is part of the intensified crackdown against the proliferation of hot meat.

On Sept. 20, some 103.8 kilos of hot meat were also confiscated at the City Uptown Market.

“The move is part of the city government’s efforts to keep the residents safe from products that were not properly inspected and lack proper clearance from the city’s abattoir,” she said.
