CONSISTENCY has been a key when the Ateneo Blue Eagles won its first four games.

And they can’t afford to be complacent when the Blue Eagles gun for their  fifth straight victory when they play winless University of Santo Tomas at 4 p.m. today in the 80th University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We can’t fall into the trap of looking at our record. We have to stay focused on our next game,” said Blue Eagles’ coach Sandy Arespacochaga.

On the other hand,  Far Eastern University and National University dispute solo fourth earlier at 2 p.m.

Arespacochaga said the Growling Tigers may be down at 0-4 in the standings,  but the coach Tab Baldwin doesn’t want the team to take them for granted.

“We’ll look at what we can improve on. We can’t be complacent and think 4-0 na kami,” added Arespacochaga.

Despite their four losses, the Tigers have shown significant improvement from last season.

On the other hand,  FEU and NU have split their first four games under their new coaches Olsen Racela and Jamike Jarin, respectively.

The Tamaraws will seek a  follow up their 78-65 win over UST last Saturday, while the Bulldogs seek to bounce back from last Sunday’s 76-83 loss to Adamson.

“It’s a tough schedule for us. Subukan namin na talagang mag-grind out for wins,” said Racela.

Games today:

(Smart Araneta Coliseum)

2 p.m. – FEU vs NU (men)

4 p.m. – Ateneo vs UST (men)
