The Philippines is ready to provide humanitarian assistance directed towards the Northern Rakhine state if the Government of Myanmar requests such assistance, Foreign Affairs spokesman Robespierre Bolivar said.

Bolivar said DFA chief Alan Peter Cayetano is currently coordinating with all members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations about the human rights violations in Myanmar.

“SFA, as Chair, is currently coordinating with all Asean Member States, especially with the Government of Myanmar, on this matter,” Bolivar said.

Bolivar said that Cayetano is also coordinating with the Myanmar Foreign Minister to relay the Philippines’ offer of assistance.

“As Chair of Asean, the Philippines is coordinating with the Government of Myanmar and the other Asean Member States to determine what assistance Myanmar may need and request on the humanitarian front and to identify the best modalities to deliver such assistance,” Bolivar said.
