Ford Philippines said Wednesday it posted record sales in August, with a 12-percent year-on-year growth to 3,166 vehicles, driven by strong demand for Ranger, Everest and EcoSport models.
“Our biggest-selling nameplates continued to drive our momentum in August. We’re looking to close the third quarter strong, while we continue to work with our dealers to further enhance the overall customer experience,” said Ford Philippines managing director Bertrand Lessard.
The Ranger led the record in August, with retail sales surging 65 percent from to 1,038 vehicles.Total sales of Ranger”•the country’s second best-selling pick-up truck”•increased 24 percent in the first eight months to 6,550 vehicles.
Sales of mid-size SUV Everest posted 18-percent growth to 1,027 vehicles, pushing its year-to-date sales to 7,797 vehicles.
The EcoSport compact SUV remained one of Ford’s best-selling vehicles in August, with retail sales growing 8 percent from previous year with 921 vehicles, helping drive its year-to-date sales up 15 percent to 7,013 vehicles. Ford’s North American-built models also contributed to the August performance.
The premium Explorer SUV saw sales grow 16 percent from a year ago to 88 vehicles, pushing its year-to-date sales up 4 percent to 724 vehicles. The Mustang sports car delivered sales of 34 vehicles, boosting its year-to-date sales up 24 percent to 256 units. Othel V. Campos
