Tropical depression “Kiko” intensifies

Tropical Depression "Kiko" has slightly accelerated.

As of Tuesday, the weather disturbance is heading towards extreme Northern Luzon.

PAGASA expects "Kiko" to pass through Northern Luzon tonight and move close to Batanes.

The tropical depression is seen to leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.

As of 11 am on Tuesday, "Kiko" has been located to be 350 kilometers east of Tuguegarao, Cagayan.

It packs maximum sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

"Kiko" is forecast to move northwest at 17 kph.

Signal number 1 is up over Northern Cagayan, including Babuyan group of islands and Batanes.
