Digong gets ‘good’ ratings–SWS

MANY Filipinos appeared satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, with the public approval of the Senate outshining the others despite a one grade drop from the previous quarter, the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed.

The Second Quarter 2017 Social Weather Survey, conducted among 1,200 respondents, showed 75  percent of those polled were satisfied with the national government, 13 percent were undecided and 11 percent were dissatisfied.

Duterte’s public satisfaction ratings remained high at +64 despite being two points down from March’s “very good” +66.

The administration received “very good” marks in four out of 15 issues: helping the poor, protecting human rights, defending the country’s territorial rights and providing jobs.

Public satisfaction remained “good” in fighting terrorism, foreign relations, fighting crime, eradicating graft and corruption, solving extrajudicial killings, reconciling with Moro rebels, ensuring that no family would ever go hungry and reconciling with communist rebels.

“Moderate” scores were recorded in recovering the hidden wealth of the late former President Ferdinand Marcos and his cronies, resolving the traffic problem and fighting inflation.

The Palace welcomed the results of the latest survey.

“We appreciate the people’s recognition of the efforts and hard work of the current government as public appreciation of the Duterte’s administration continues to remain ‘very good’ at +64,” Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said.

“As a result, the Duterte administration posted the highest first four-quarter average net satisfaction rating ever recorded.”

The latest survey, conducted from June 23 to 26 via face-to-face interviews, had a margin of error of ±3 points nationwide.
