Transport network company Uber has paid a fine of P 190 million to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

The fine was earlier set by the Board in exchange for lifting the remaining days left following the one-month suspension of the company's operation.

The suspension was imposed last August 15.

Despite the payment, the suspension remains in effect as of the moment.

Uber still needs to submit proof that it has also paid its accredited drivers the total amount of P 299 million.

The figure represents the estimated amount of money the drivers lost during the days that they were prohibited from working.

Uber has about 35,000 drivers.

The company intends to submit to the LTFRB within the day the proof from its bank that it has paid its drivers the amount equivalent to the incomes they lost.
