A LOW pressure over east of Catanduanes and Eastern Samar has developed into a tropical depression named “Jolina,” weathermen said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Thursday the southwest monsoon affecting the western section of Luzon would cause rains over parts of the Catanduanes and Samar islands.

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol, eastern Visayas, Ilocos Norte, Zambales, Bataan, Quezon and Palawan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and possible occasional heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated light to occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will blow from southwest to south over Luzon, and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
