GMA Network teases fans with another surprise as “Abs ng Bayan” Jak Roberto and the Meant To Be boys are rumored to go back on the boob tube with a new sitcom following the massive success of their rom-com series.
“We are already talking about the project. It’s not going to be a soap, more like a sitcom,” Jak said in a recent interview.
Rumor has it that the comedy show will be similar to Palibhasa Lalake, a popular TV series from the other network that ran from 1987 to 1998 and was directed by Johnny Manahan. Its original cast members were Joey Marquez, Richard Gomez, Miguel Rodriguez, Gloria Romero, Cynthia Patag, Amy Perez and Carmina Villaroel.
The show featured the humorous everyday lives of the original cast and spiced up by the groupies like The Gwapings (composed of Mark Anthony Fernandez, Eric Fructuoso, Jomari Yllana, and Jao Mapa), The Kutings (Claudine Barretto , Rica Peralejo, G. Toengi, Regine Tolentino, Lindsay Custodio, and Maria Kristina P.).
The roles of Jak Roberto and the MTB Boys are yet to be confirmed as no official word coming from the network if the show would push through. In the meantime, Jak and his former co-stars are busy with their respective TV projects and showbiz commitments.
