Noel Cabangon’s message of hope

Think about a live music show that promotes positive message of rising up from adversity and moving forward. Imagine dozens of artists performing onstage delivering the same message through their songs and production numbers.

That’s exactly what Kaya Natin ‘To is all about.

Over 40 OPM stars will gather at the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) in Resorts World Manila (RWM) on Aug. 30 for the grand musical event that celebrates life, hope, and togetherness.

Kaya Natin ‘To, is also the title of the song written by folk singer and songwriter Noel Cabangon, who was tapped by RWM to come up with a music that would be the theme of an initiative that will benefit the Children of Resorts World Manila Foundation.

“Resorts World contacted me if I had the number of this artist. So I gave them the number and then since this artist is a friend of mine, this person contacted me and asked me if I could write a song for Resorts World after the big incident to uplift the spirit of 6000 employers of the integrated tourist destination and then sabi ko sige, I could try,” the prolific singer-songwriter told Manila Standard in an interview.

Although he wasn’t intended to be part of the show, Cabangon didn’t think twice when he learned what the concert was all about. He immediately headed to the studio and finished writing and recording the song in a week’s time.

“I started writing the song last week of June. It happened so fast. I was able to write and did the production including the recording in a few days,” Cabangun shared.

Asked what made him say “yes” to this well-meaning initiative of RWM and various artists involved, the folk singer underscored his advocacy to use music to convey positive messages that could encourage people to act.

“The concert’s message is very clear. Just like the song I wrote for the concert, we can’t really dwell on despair and emotions. We wanted to convey that at the end of the tunnel, we could really see the light. We face challenges that stun us especially because of the degrees of these events. I don’t know if it’s really a good thing, but the message is very positive that in times of crisis, we Filipinos are very reliable.”

Joining Cabangon onstage are OPM artists like Christian Bautista, Gian Magdangal, Bituin Escalante, Fred Lo, Michael Williams, Chris Villonco, Dulce, Kakai Bautista, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, and Arthur Manalang to name a few.

Music accompaniment will be provided by Manila Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar.

The grand musical event also features performances by the cast of Resorts World Manila Musical Productions including Cinderella, Priscilla, King & I, Annie, Bituing Walang Ningning, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and more. The concept, script, and direction is by Freddie Santos

The story of Aegis onstage

Also at the Newport Performing Arts Theater is the first grand concert of the multi-platinum selling band, Aegis, after years of absence on the local music scene.

Fresh from their US tour, Aegis sets their homecoming concert happening on Sept. 1 and will feature hits, like “Halik”, “Basang Basa sa Ulan,” “Luha” and “Sinta.”

Multi-platinum record selling rock band, Aegis

Aptly titled Aegis na Aegis: A Story of Us, the band looks back at its flourishing career spanning two decades to share with their fans their personal experiences on their journey to rock superstardom.

From the heartfelt lines penned by Celso Abenoja for their remarkable debut album, to their selection of rock anthems that are given new verve by the sisters’ live vocal fusion, Aegis is all set to give audiences another surefire hit concert.

With multiple hits easily found in thousands of videoke song lists in the country, a crossover tribute in the form of a stage musical entitled Rak of Aegis, and 10 platinum and gold albums, there is no denying that Aegis is indeed one of the Philippines’ best acts in music.
